Pack your bags, you’re going to trial!

During what was perhaps my first week at WilmerHale, one of the partners walked into my office and asked, “So… do you want to go to trial?” A month later, I was in San Francisco assisting in bet-the-company litigation. There was no better way to get an introduction to WilmerHale.

Naturally, I was nervous and excited. This was the reason I joined WilmerHale. I wanted to work on fascinating litigation. But I worried about how I, as such a new associate, would be able to contribute. Fortunately, when you are in trial, there is no shortage of work or expertise. Sitting in the war room, the more senior attorneys filtered tasks and assignments to me as the trial swooped and swerved in unexpected directions. I spent many a long night supervising preparations for the next day. The team taught me anything I needed to know, and supported me so that I could do the job, and do it well.

Because of my role as a supporting attorney for a variety of the different phases of the trial, I was fortunate enough to attend court during the most critical portions of the case. I was inspired by our side’s performance, which reaffirmed my decision to come to WilmerHale.
