Lauren Moore

  Lauren Moore is a summer associate in our Washington DC office. She expects to graduate from Harvard Law School in 2012. While attending law school, Lauren was a law clerk at the U.S. Department of Justice, Civil Division. She was also an intern in the Enforcement Division of the Securities and Exchange Commission. Lauren received a dual undergraduate degree in Communications and Political Science from the University of Southern California.

I’ve seen countless tourists zooming around the city on Segways, and I have secretly wanted to try one for years. I finally got the chance last Thursday when the Washington DC summer associates went on a Segway tour of the city.

One of the best things about the summer program is the never-ending stream of gourmet lunches. There are so many partners and associates who are both willing and eager to take summer associates out for lunch, coffee or dessert.

Last Saturday, the summer associates went on the annual WilmerHale Washington DC sailing trip. Several associates told me that the trip is always one of the highlights of the summer program, and I was really excited to discover why.

Each of the summer associates received our first assignments last week, and everyone seemed to be nervous and excited about the new challenge ahead. Even though my fellow summer associates are some of the brightest people I’ve met, everyone was eager to prove themselves and meet the high standards that have been set by the firm.

As a student interviewing with several law firms, I had a lot of important criteria in mind. I knew that I wanted to work in Washington DC because of the broad range of legal work available, the extensive government interaction, and the intellectual culture.
