A few weeks back, when we officially moved out of our apartment and into our new house, I was tasked with purchasing traffic cones so that we could reserve the parking spots in front of the apartment for the moving truck. I began to protest, but quickly came to appreciate the awesome spousal wrath that would befall me if, for want of traffic cones, a parade of horribles should ensue, culminating in me, my wife, and unborn child standing – or wombing, as the case may be – on the sidewalk of R Street with all our worldly goods. ...

Let me first apologize for my lengthy absence. It has been an absolutely hectic few weeks. As you'll recall, I'm in the Securities Department, so if you've read a paper of late, you may find it in your heart to forgive. In addition, this weekend was the big move into Casa Chambers. It went smoothly except for the fact that I can't find most of my business clothes. Of course, clothes that should have long ago gone to Goodwill were easy to find. ...

I’ve been had.

As you’re now aware, I’m in the throes of new home ownership and I’m learning – the hard way – that it isn’t all shopping for flat screen TVs and barbeque grills. You see, every 10 years, like clockwork, I suffer a total lapse of judgment that happens to coincide with some grifter’s scheme. ...

As promised, my Big Sky adventure. In truth it wasn’t an adventure as much as it was a 70th birthday party for my father-in-law. We stayed near Montana’s Flathead Lake (another largely Blackberry-free zone) and spent most of our time doing, well, nothing. There was a surprisingly high “Esq.” quotient among the assembled guests. But, fortunately, they were older attorneys generally content to play Remember When and remind me how good I have it (“Back in my day we practiced law [for no pay / twenty hours a day / while on fire]!”). ...

I guess I’ll use this inaugural post to introduce myself and formally establish my web presence. A recovering CPA, I earned my J.D. from Yale Law School in 2004 and relocated to Washington, DC after the bar exam. Presently, I am a fourth-year associate in the Firm’s Washington office and practice in the Securities Department. ...
